A Pyramid, the perfect structure in so many ways: simple in form and structure, steep, rain shedding roof slopes, environmentally harmonious, positive in energetic resonance, and not without mystery.

Pyramid Point Holiday HouseA brief history: The original Pyramid House was built in 1976 using primarily reclaimed materials or materials milled from trees felled on the property.  All exposed beams, posts and rafters were reused from a 1800s cannery in Port Albion. The stained glass windows, originally from an English Church, were acquired in trade from an antiques store owner in Victoria. The insulation came from an ice rink that was once part of the military base where the Long Beach Golf Course now sits. The foundation was laid using a compass to magnetically align The Pyramid with the North Pole.

In the late 1990s the Pyramid House was elevated to add the “Holiday House” suites below. It took nine years to complete the project with help from local builders, artists, and the Reves family. The addition is unique with attributes. The fir foyer post was hand adzed by the late local artisan, Henry Nola, as were all the exposed ceiling beams in each of the three suites. Henry’s son Mark hand adzed the trim throughout the suites. Consideration was taken in all aspects to keep the dwelling true to its original roots.
